HOW WE REVIEW

Every feature combines the property’s official imagery with Maria’s own photographs and observations whenever she has personally visited.

Official images are clearly credited. Maria’s photographs are identified separately, allowing readers to distinguish between how a property presents itself and how the experience genuinely felt during the stay.

Hosted, discounted or complimentary stays will always be disclosed. They never guarantee a positive review.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

We look beyond traditional ideas of luxury.

We notice the details that determine whether a stay or a meal actually feels good — quiet, service, pillows, pool atmosphere, chair comfort, outdoor dining, food, space and the feeling of being genuinely looked after.

A beautiful hotel is not enough if the pool is chaotic, the chairs are uncomfortable or the service feels impersonal. Escape Selection reviews the whole experience.

THE FOUNDER

Escape Selection was founded by Maria Christina Jarltoft for travellers who value comfort, calm and exceptional hospitality over noise, trends and excess.

After years of travelling, Maria realised that the details she cared about most were often missing from traditional hotel and restaurant reviews.

Is the pool peaceful?

Can you sit through a long dinner without regretting the chair?
